Mangaung, Free State, South Africa – CUT, in partnership with SMRT.bio, today announced the launch of the Talent Implementation Model Entrepreneurs (TIME) project. This groundbreaking initiative leverages the AI-powered SMRT.bio platform to drive socio-economic growth, enhance skills development, and create jobs in the Mangaung region.

Prof. Pamela Dube, CUT’s Vice-Chancellor, remarked, “Project TIME aims to transform lives at CUT and beyond by fostering entrepreneurship, offering structured mentorship with industry experts, and connecting students and alumni to international networks.” She emphasized that the partnership represents a key milestone in advancing education and technology.

SMRT.bio's CEO Mr. Bart Takkenkamp added, “This is our first large scale project in South Africa, with a conference scheduled for October this year. We’re excited to further expand into Africa with the support of the European Commission and NGOs, and we’re confident that our collaborative approach will ensure success.” Meanwhile, SMRT.bio Chairman Mr. Frank Melis highlighted the initiative’s inclusive approach, inviting not only students but the wider community to participate and spark region-wide economic development.

It is envisioned that 25,000 will make use of the platform and that at least another 125,000 people in the region will join forces.

The success of Project TIME depends on active collaboration between CUT and multiple community stakeholders, promising a significant boost to regional economic growth.
